REsilient, REbuilding and REinventing

The focus of Sigma’s 2024-2026 is to be resilient, to rebuild and to reinvent. The first several weeks of this new biennium have been very promising for our members!
The members of Sigma are resolved to be to resilient, to rebuild our membership and to reinvent our chapter!

Looking forward to an exciting biennium.

Reading and Writing Program

Continued for the May 1st meeting:

Part 2

By now you should have received a second letter from your Pal. The books have arrived for our Reading and Writing Pals, so we will need to spend some time wrapping those books for delivery. If you have any extra All Occasion wrapping paper on hand (no need to go out and buy any), please bring it to the May meeting, along with a pair of scissors and some Scotch tape. We need to wrap and tag the books we are giving to our Pals.

If you haven’t done so already, don’t forget to respond to your Reading and Writing Pal’s most recent letter. Responses should be sent to:

            Jennifer Vovakes

_______________________________________________Part 1 _______________________________

At our December meeting Chapter President Liz Brewer introduced a classroom/chapter partnership project that another Delta Kappa Gamma chapter had coordinated with a classroom of students, thinking this would be a good project for Sigma Chapter. Jennifer Vovakes showed interest in the program’s possibilities, and she and Deborah Bernhisel have been working out the details for a Sigma Chapter version of the partnership. They have been streamlining the program, which would allow Sigma Chapter to partner with Jennifer’s 19 Kindergarten students. If this year’s pilot is successful, we will be able to offer the program again in 2026. They are hoping that 19 Sigma members will be willing and/or able to participate in the pilot, matching Jennifer’s students one-to-one. The details of the project will be shared prior to the March Meeting, and a portion of our March Meeting will be dedicated to explaining the project as Jennifer and Deborah envision it, answering questions, and gathering volunteers. Those interested in participating in the project, but unable to attend the March Meeting, should contact Deborah or Jennifer before March 1st.
